The objective of the study was to evaluate the growth and stem quality of the newly selected natural acacia hybrid clones for afforestation in the South Central Coast Region. The study was conducted in a natural acacia hybrid clonal test consisting of 40 clone, 5 replicates, 10 trees/plot in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh. Evaluation results at 55 months of age showed that there was a significant difference in all growth traits, stem quality and survival among clones. Through the evaluation, the group of best performing clones in the trial was identified as BV340, BV128, BV566, BV97 and BV110 with stem volume ranging from 75.3 to 92.1 dm 3 and mean annual increment from 23.0 to 30.7 m 3 /ha/year, 42 to 91% superior to BV32 which is the commercial control variety. These clones also have straight stems and small branches with relatively high stem quality index, ranging from 3.9 to 4.4 points. These are very promising lines to recognize as new varieties for afforestation in the South Central Coast Regio
