Research on some silvicultural characteristics of Sterculia foetida L. natural distributions in the South Central of Vietnam

In South Central Vietnam, Sterculia foetida L. usually natural distributed in subgroups of secondary-Forest restoration after harvesting in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces. Sterculia foetida L. often grown at topography has relatively flat, the slope below 15 0 , altitude below 400 m above sea level. Sterculia foetida L. has the ability to live in hot and dry conditions with high degree of heat, low rainfall, and evaporation bigger than precipitation. Sterculia foetida L. is usually distributed on well-drained soil and low nutritional content. The composition of place Sterculia foetida L. is distributed is often simple, from 12 to 15 species, with low density and scattered grown and dominated by light-loving pioneer tree species. The density of regeneration trees of the composition was relatively low, but the regeneration of Sterculia foetida L. was many, number seedling is 1,000 to 3,400 trees/ha, the regeneration were of good quality and origin of it was mainly from seeds. It is often regenerative around the base of the mother trees.
