Using plantation log to produce new wood material for furniture industry manufacturing

Abstract

At present, Acacia plantation wood is a potential timber raw material source; but products value made of planted timber is still low due to the planted logs quality is not yet met the requirement of log for saw board production which is important wood material for furniture manufacturing. This study has created multilaminar block wood made of peeled veneer of small planted acacia logs. Multilaminar block wood has lager dimension than acacia log were used to make it (its dimension is 2.44 m of length; the width and thickness are up to the requirement of production); this product has physical, mechanical and machining properties which are similar to wood quality of some natural timber at 4th group (according to the Vietnamese grading standard). This multilaminar block wood not only contributed to improve the added value and the product diversify of plantation logs but also is a new wood material supplying to furniture manufacture industry in Vietnam. timber and high quality plywood which are the raw material resource supplying for furniture manufacturing
