Research on the diversity of medicinal plants in Lien Minh commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the diversity of medicinal plant resources in Dao ethnic community in Lien Minh commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province. The methods used for collecting data consisted method of specimen collection, interview method, identification of the species name, method of medicinal plant resources diversity assessment, method of endangered medicinal plants level assessment. The results of research have identified initially 71 species of medicinal plants of 64 genera and 46 families which the ethnic community has used for diseases prevention and treatment. There are seven main life forms of the medicinal plants: herbaceous, vines, small wood trees, shrub, moderate wood trees, large wood trees, parasite. The trees distribution is often in
many types of habitat: live in the forests, gardens, hills and along riverside, streams. In the parts used as medicine, the whole plant, leaves and roots are most used. The results show that there are 13 groups of disease treated which could be cured by the experience of using medicinal plants of Dao ethnic community in Lien Minh commune, of which 6 groups of diseases occupy the highest rate: digestive diseases, weather sickness, osteoarthritis disease, kidney disease, wound diseases, liver. There are 2 endangered medicinal plants: Canarium tramdenum Dai & Yakovl, Stephania sinica Diels
