Abstract

Research on characteristics of tropical evergreen evergreen forest at Phu Cuong mountain area, Tinh Bien district, An Giang province has been implemented in 2019. The puppose of study to determine the forestry characteristics of the restored forest state, as a scientific basis for proposing solutions to conservation and sustainable development of forest resources. The study of 09 sample plot with 2,000 m 2 for each typical area and 36 plots with 25 m 2 for investigated gemination index. The research show that: (i) In the form of topography, there is a decrease in the number of plant families and number of individual trees in the order: ribs - feet - peaks. The whole area has 38 families and 75 plant species. There are 8 families of plants with an IVI index of over 5%. The distribution of the number of trees and total cross sections and the volume of forests by diameter or height are not much different between the types of terrain. The characteristics of the experimental distribution of the number of trees according to diameter class are all reduced distribution, the empirical distribution of the number of trees according to the height level is a distribution of a peak, a bit left. (ii) Number of plant families and number of tree species appear in DH2 is higher than that of DH1 and DH3. The diversity of timber species of both forest status (d = 6.10), Simpson's dominant index (1 - λ), the average of the state in the range of 0.91 - 0.95. (iii) The group of species of regenerated tree species is not the same among the terrain types. The species of regenerated trees have relatively similar composition to high tree formation, with 3 to 5 species participating in the main group. Based on the proportion of trees with a height greater than 1.0 m, over average quality and original proportion from seed, the density of promising regenerating trees will be 1,594 trees/ha (DH1), 1,855 trees/ha (DH2) and 1,200 trees/ha (DH3). Silvicultural techniques to diversity conservation in Phu Cuong mountain area focus on protection forest combine with additional planting of tree species of high economic and conservation value. Particularly for the high terrain on the top of the mountain (DH1), it is necessary to strictly protect it so as not to affect the natural regeneration of the forest
