Propagation and planting techniques of Salanum procumbens Lour., Curculigo orchioides Gaertn, Dioscorea persimilis Prain et Burk. in Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province

Abstract

This paper introduces some results of propagation and planting of Salanum procumbens, Curculigo orchioides, Dioscorea persimilis in Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province in order to supplement and develop technical guidelines for propagation and cultivation of medicinal plant species that are suitable for local production conditions. The research results showed that the seeds o f Salanum procumbens treated with water at a temperature of 25 - 35 o C achieved a high germination rate of 80.3 - 84.3%. Salanum procumbens cuttings treated with IBA at 1.500 ppm after 45 days achieved the highest survival rate of 93.8%, the best growth with a height of 25.3 cm and 3.4 leaves/plant. The 6-month-old Salanum procumbens cutting model achieved an average survival rate of 92.7%, an average height of 76.3 cm, 6.6 branches/plant, a yield of 17.2 tons/ha. Curculigo orchioides seeds treated with water at a temperature of 25 - 35 o C had a very low germination rate of only 12.3 - 15.3% and a long germination time. Curculigo orchioide cuttings were treated with IBA at different concentrations and controls achieved high survival rates from 88.5 -91.7%, growth and height reached from 2.5 - 2.8 cm, 7,1 - 8.1 leaves/plant. No obvious effect of IBA on the cuttings of Curculigo orchioides was found. The model of the 6-month-old Curculigo orchioides cuttings achieved a survival rate of 85.4%, a height of 33.6 cm, 6.6 leaves/plant, a yield of 1.1194 tons/ha. Dioscorea persimilis cuttings treated with IBA at different concentrations and controls achieved high survival rates from 91.7 - 94.8%, growing in height from 33.1 - 37.1 cm, number of leaves /plant average from 4.3 - 5.1 leaves/plant. No significant effect of IBA on the cutting process of the Dioscorea persimilis tree was found. After 12 months of planting Dioscorea persimilis trees, the survival rate was 86.5%, the average length of the trunk was 175.2 cm, 2.9 leaves/plant, the yield was 25.6 tons/ha
