Abstract

Study of biomass and carbon stock of Dendrocalamus barbatus is a background study toward carbon dynamics assessment of Dendrocalamus barbatus plantation. This study is necessary and meaningful for valuating environmental service of bamboo forest. Research results show that biomass of individual bamboo tree is mainly contributed in culm (accounting for 71. 4%), branches (accounting for 13.2%), rhizome (accounting for 8.9%) and leaves (6.5%). The research also indicates that the proportion of carbon content in biomass (biomass carbon) targets the highest number at 52.3% for culm. The percentage for rhizome, branch and leaves are 51.2%, 49.7% and 42.6% respectively. There are four allometric models were developed to examine the relationship between biomass and carbon stock of bamboo tree and there are four allometric models describing relationship between carbon stock ofbamboo tree and D 1,3 and Hvn. These models can be used for quick estimation biomass and carbon stock of bamboo tree
