Eucalyptus pellita, known for its rapid growth and resistance to Ceratocystis wilt disease, is a dominant species in Southeast Asian plantations. It also serves as a parental tree in breeding programs. In Vietnam, two second-generation E. pellita seed orchards were planted in Baubang and Playku in the past decades. To assess the genetic diversity of these orchards, 12 seedlots from 7 origins in SSO Bau Bang were analysed using 8 microsatellite markers. Results indicated a moderate level of genetic diversity, with expected heterozygosity (He) of 0.54 and observed heterozygosity (Ho) of 0.63. Negative inbreeding coefficients (average F = -0.18) and a high value of the gen flow index (Nm=6.14) suggested high levels of outcrossing. Despite genetic and phenotypic thinning, the orchards maintained sufficient genetic diversity for future breeding and development programs for this species.
