Assessment of the growth and productivity of eucalyptus plantaion in Quang Ninh province

Abstract

Eucalyptus is the main planting species of Quang Ninh province, with a total
area of 18,087.7 hectares by 2020, accounting for 7.3% of the total area of
planted forests in the province. Eucalyptus was planted in all 13 districts, towns
and cities of the province, of which the most in Van Don district was 6,251.7 ha
and Dong Trieu town was 5,645.8 ha. Eucalyptus plantations in the province
have an average annual growth in diameter D1,3 (cm) and height Hvn (m)
reaching values of 3.0 cm/year and 3.8 m/year for age level 1 (1 - 3 years old);
2.2 cm/year and 2.7 m/year for age level 2 (4 - 6 years old); 1.1 cm/year and 1.8
m/year for age level 3 (7 - 9 years old). The yeild of eucalyptus plantations at the
common age of logging (5 - 7 years old) in Quang Ninh province has a great
variation, ranging from 80.0 to 130.3 m

diseases in the stands of 20.1% on average. However, the level of development
of pests and diseases is not really serious when most of the damaged trees are
only at level 1 damage (the percentage of foliage with pests and diseases ≤ 25%
or the rate of branches with pests and diseases ≤ 10%) accounts for 19.2%
