Research on indigenous knowledge using medicinal plants of ethnic minority communities in Trong Con commune, Thach An district, Cao Bang province

Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the experience of medicinal plant resources
of ethnic minority communities in Trong Con Commune, Thach An District,
Cao Bang Province. The methods used for collecting data were method of
specimen collection, interview method, identification of the species name,
method of medicinal plant resources diversity assessment, method of
endangered medicinal plants level assessment.The results of research have
identified 94 medicinal plant species belonging to 79 genera and 59 families
used by the Tay, Nung and Dao ethnic communities to treat diseases. The
results have been identified with 9 different parts of medicinal plants used by
the experience of the ethnic minority communities, in which the most used
parts are: leaves, bulbs, roots, whole plant and stems. The result has been
determined that 19 groups of diseases are treated with the experience of using
medicinal plants of the ethnic minority communities, in which the disease
groups occupy the highest rate: digestive diseases, urinary tract disease,
diseases of joints and motor system, liver disease, skin diseases and weather
sickness.There are five medicinal plants that are used by ethnic minority
communities at the study area for treating disease, includes: Paris chinensis
Franch, Gynura cusimbua (D. Don) S. Moore, Erythropalum scandens Blume,
Stephania pierrei Diels, Antenoron filiforme (Thunb.) Robert. & Vau.
