Effect of fungicides on shot hole borer Euwallacea fornicatus (Eichhoff) feeding pathogenic fungus Fusarium euwallacea under laboratory conditions

Acacia mangium and Acacia hybrid are two major forestry tree species in the economic development strategy in Phu Tho province. Development of planting the trees with extensive areas is one of stable evironments for a number of pests and diseases. Pests are important factors limiting the productivity and quality of acacia wood. Among the pests, the shot hole borer Euwallacea fornicatus is one of the most serious pests of A. mangium and A. hybrid in Phu Tho province. The E. fornicatus has a symbiotic relation with the pathogenic fungus Fusarium euwallacea. The funvagal spores are carried and spreaded by
the female beetle in special organs located in the buccal cavity of head.
Germination of the F. euwallacea spores is on the wall of the stem galleries and is feeding source of the grubs and adults. Therefore, the purpose of thí study is fiding the effect of fungicde on the fungus F. euwallacea. Results showed that Mancozeb, Forsetyl-Aluminium, Chlorothalinil and Chlorothalinil + Metalaxyl having valuable reduction to growth of the mycelial fungus. Mancozeb has most effective to inhibition of growth germination of the fungus during 7 days of observation under laboratory conditions. The results of the
experiment will contribute an indirect control of shot hole borer E. fornicatus
