Abstract

Currently, resin extraction of Dipterocarpus grandiflorus is entirely carried out from natural forests using traditional extraction tools and techniques, resulting in low resin yields, adversely affecting tree growth, and posing significant risks of forest fires. When resin tapping holes are created with a depth of 30 - 40 cm and a width of 7 - 10 cm, the highest resin yield is achieved with 14.74 kg (average of 7.37 kg per tapping), while the lowest resin yield is obtained with a depth of 3 - 6 cm, resulting in 8.36 kg (average of 4.18 kg per tapping). The most suitable height for creating resin tapping holes is 70 cm above the ground level, yielding the highest resin yield with 15.1 kg (average of 7.55 kg per tapping), while the tapping holes positioned 100 cm above the ground level yield the lowest resin yield (average of 4.19 kg per tapping). Dipterocarpus grandiflorus can be tapped throughout the year, but the highest resin yield is obtained during the summer - autumn tapping season (April - September), with resin yields ranging from 3.43 - 4 kg per tapping, whereas the winter - spring season only yields 2.19 - 2.64 kg per tapping.
