Abstract

Area of protection and special-use forest in Hanoi is not large but plays an important role in landscape creation and environmental protection. All protection and special-use forest areas in Hanoi have a special landscape value in conjunction with important historical and cultural relics of the the Capital to be conserved with high priority such as Thanh Giong, Thuong and Ho Chi Minh temple relics; Huong Son beauty spot,... Protection and special use forest of Hanoi were under decentralized management according to the regulation of the State and Hanoi city. Forest in Hanoi was managed effectively in line with forest types based upon current policies/mechanism. In order to manage and develop protection and special use forest in Hanoi sustainably a series of solutions on forest management policy/mechanism improvement should be applied, of which the emphases are given to issue land used right certificate, implementation of forest protection contraction, application of science-technology advanced techniques in line with conservation and development of protection and special use forest, payment for forest environmental services, eco-tourism development, forest environment lease,...
