CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROCESS OF ACCUMULATION AND CONCENTRATION OF AGRICULTURAL AND FORESTRY LAND FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN MAI SON DISTRICT, SON LA PROVINCE

Abstract

Vietnam is developing industrialization, urbanization very fast but agriculture still holds an important position in the economy. The Party and the State of Vietnam have consistently prioritized the reorganization of agricultural production components and the expansion of large-scale agricultural and forestry land development. Mai Son district, located in Son La province, is a mountainous district situated in the Northwest region of Vietnam. It is inhabited by numerous ethnic minorities who engage in traditional agricultural activities. The acquisition and concentration of agricultural and forestry land in Mai Son district can be categorized into four primary kinds. The obstacles and complexities impacting the process of gathering and consolidating agricultural and forestry land include: (i) Land policies; (ii) Conventional and outdated farming techniques; (iii) Insufficient labor force and labor qualifications. The household survey yielded highly favorable results on the suitability of agricultural and forestry land in terms of their form, scale, and policies for accumulation and concentration. The rates achieved ranged from 45% to 70%, indicating a significant level of success.
